Dense infiltration of neutrophils is seen in the subarachnoid space (HE, low power).   Long capsule-forming rods are clustered among the neutrophilic exudates but not phagocytized, leading to the diagnosis of Klebsiella meningitis. Microbial culture confirmed the pathogen.
