Acute appendicitis resected from a Kyushu resident
Key words : Enterobius vermicularis, acute appendicitis
Numbers of nematode worms are seen within the lumen of the inflamed appendix (HE, low power).
A pair of lateral ala (a wedge-shaped projection of the cuticle) histologically characterizes Enterobius vermicularis> (HE).
Cut surface of the pinworm contains the esophagus and maturing ova (HE, high power).
Reference case 26A Ectopic enterobiasis in the sigmoid colon (15 y-o M, Okinawa resident). The parasite located in foreign body granuloma contains numbers of ova (HE).
